EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Marce King, a lifelong resident of Owen County became the Executive Director in February of 2019. Marce had previously been the Executive Director of a local non-for-profit for eleven years. She is also the Owen County Bicentennial president as well as a free-lance photographer, artist, and graphic designer. She has two children. Her daughter is currently working towards her Master’s degree and her son is an EMT for Lifeline. Owen County holds a special place in Marce’s heart and she is thankful for the privilege to serve her Indiana Home!
Economic Development
The Owen County Economic Development Corporation works hand-in-hand with the Chamber of Commerce to facilitate growth and improvement within Owen County. The team works hard to promote trade, tourism, industry, and quality of life within the community. Whereas the Chamber of commerce promotes the interests of businesses in their day to day operations, Economic Development focuses on longer-term economic growth.
What We Do
H.O.P.E. – Helping Owen Professionals Excel is a program offering business start-up consultation or organizational assistance for existing businesses. Whether you need help in formulating a business plan, marketing, financial management, or funding, our team of business professionals is here to help you.
Revolving Loan Fund – Our revolving loan fund can provide low-interest loans of up to $25,000 for start-up or expansion toward equipment, machinery, fixed assets, or structure construction for small businesses in Owen County.
Tax Abatements – The O.C.E.D.C. can assist you in applying for a tax abatement for a new business or an existing business wanting to expand. Depending on the economic impact your project will have on the local economy, this abatement can be up to 10 years in term.
Tax Increment Financing – A TIF (Tax Increment Financing) district reallocates funds from property taxes to encourage investment within the district. Any increase in tax revenues collected as a result of an increase in property values go into a T.I.F. fund and can be used for a wide range of purposes within the T.I.F. district to promote redevelopment.
Government Liaison – The O.C.E.D.C. will act as an emissary between local and state government and your business, promoting partnership and a common vision.
Business Retention & Expansion – Our BR&E (Business Retention & Expansion) Taskforce is constantly working with local businesses to define and address their needs to ensure their success. Special attention is given to small businesses that employ between 2-99 employees.
