EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Marce King, a lifelong resident of Owen County became the Executive Director in February of 2019. Marce had previously been the Executive Director of a local non-for-profit for eleven years. She is also the Owen County Bicentennial president as well as a free-lance photographer, artist, and graphic designer. She has two children. Her daughter is currently working towards her Master’s degree and her son is an EMT for Lifeline. Owen County holds a special place in Marce’s heart and she is thankful for the privilege to serve her Indiana Home!
Community Development
Community development is a powerful tool for empowering people and promoting economic growth and social cohesion. When community members are engaged and empowered, they are more likely to start businesses or invest in their local economy. Additionally, community development projects may attract outside investors, which can further stimulate economic growth. In addition, community development can improve social cohesion and promote a sense of belonging. When people feel connected to their community, they are more likely to participate in community activities and work together towards common goals.

Crowdfunding campaign launched for
“The Heart of Owen County”
$25,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA’s CreatINg Places initiative
Spencer, IN: Owen County residents will soon be able to enjoy new restroom facilities and mural thanks to the recently launched crowdfunding campaign entitled “ It’s GO Time”.
The campaign is sponsored by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and offered through the crowdfunding platform developed by Patronicity. The campaign is led by the Owen County Chamber of Commerce and the Spencer-Owen Economic Development Corporation.
“After many months of preparation and effort, it is now time to enter the final phase of fundraising and begin construction on our Public Restroom Facility. In a year where our community feels pressed on every side, this project represents how Owen County will not be crushed but will continue to work together and grow even amid the struggle. Owen County is on the go and it’s GO time!”
“Communities are looking for ways to come together and crowdfunding is a great way to collaborate and generate support to address local challenges,” said Bridget Anderson, Director at Partonicity, “It’s important that our public spaces are safe and connect residents. This project will provide critical services and beautify downtown.”
The funds raised will be used to create a public restroom in the “heart” of Owen County and will include a mural by a local artist, Israel Hogan.
If the campaign reaches its $25,000 goal by July 26, 2020, the Spencer-Owen Economic Development Corporation will receive a matching grant of $25,000 from IHCDA's CreatINg Places program.
